After many days of sustained pressure on the Cord co-principal from Ford Kenya party delegates, Mr Wetangula's trouble may be far from over with the Bukusu elders now plotting a party 'coup' to dethrone him.

In a meeting held on Monday, with over 30 Bukusu elders led by Maruti Webomba from Webuye West constituency in attendance, it was resolved that Eldoret-based activist Ken Wafula takes over the leadership of the party.

They further accused the Senate Minority leader of not giving the community the right direction more so at a time when political realignments in readiness for 2017 are starting to take shape.

Wafula who is eyeing the Trans Nzoia senatorial seat was unanimously proposed to take over from Wetangula whom they accused of not honoring meetings with them.

"Wetangula planned 10 meetings with us, but he has not honored any of them, “Webomba was quoted by the Star as saying.

Should the elders make good their threat, then Wetangula's political future may be ground to a halt.
