Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has accused Wiper Democratic Movement Party's top brass of scheming to lock him out of the Mombasa gubernatorial race.
“They have been planning to lock me out of Wiper (Party) and out of the Mombasa gubernatorial race. But let me tell them that no one can stop Awiti. I am in the race,” the Daily Nation quoted him.
He spoke on Monday shortly after Wiper Party officials Mombasa branch endorsed Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar for governorship.
Awiti, who is also Wiper's National Treasurer rubbished Omar's endorsement as "undemocratic."
He vowed to cement his gubernatorial bid by holding major rallies and political meetings across Mombasa County.
“I have been watching their steps and I am organising myself with a plan 'B'. They have decided to block me (from contesting) after all that I have done for the Wiper party – the sacrifices I have made to popularise the party. But I can assure them I will not be brought down by anybody,” he stated.
