Chama Cha Mashinani Leader Isaac Ruto was conspicuously ‘missing’ at the Supreme Court during the ruling of the Presidential election. It is not yet clear where the NASA leader was at the time of the ruling. National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders walked into the Supreme Court in solidarity ahead of the Presidential petition.
NASA presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga was accompanied with Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula.
Chief Justice David Maraga, his deputy Philomena Mwilu, Judges Jackton Ojwang’, Mohammed Ibrahim, Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndung’u and Isaac Lenaola agreed that the nation goes back to another election in 60 days.
The leaders of the alliance have said that they no longer have confidence in The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC). This is after chairman Wafula Chebukati declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the winner of the last general election after he garnered 8,203,290 (54.27 per cent) votes against Mr Raila’s 6,762, 224 (44.74 per cent).
Raila moved to court seeking to overturn the outcome of the August polls on the grounds that they were marred by election malpractices.
"Raila promised to unmask the rot in IEBC and Jubilee.“
“We will show how they shamelessly cooked results from non-existent polling stations and fake un-gazetted Presiding and Returning officers. They gave figures from non-existent Forms 34A and 34B; they scrambled to manufacture such forms,” he said.
