Months after ditching opposition NASA, ex-Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto now says constitutional amendments are necessary in the country for stability.
For months now, ODM leader Raila Odinga has been lobbying for constitutional changes with sources saying he is keen to have parliamentary system of government is introduced in the country.
And at an interview by Citizen TV, Ruto said however, the calls for referendum should be introduced two years to 2022 polls.
"Of course I will support calls to have the constitution amended because it is important for this nation. Some of topical issues can be solved.
"However, those calls should be introduced just two years to elections. It is quite early to start campaigning because referendums are quite divisive," he said.
Deputy President William Ruto has already vehemently opposed constitutional changes, insisting that its a wider scheme to thwart his 2022 chances.
On Monday, ODM party unleashed on Ruto, terming him a saboteur of development who holds President Uhuru Kenyatta hostage.
