Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto returned to the country on Friday from South Africa, where he had gone for specialised treatment.

The Chama Cha Mashinani party leader was injured when he stormed a friendly football match in Silibwet Stadium on November 7, 2016.

A teargas canister lobed by police hit the governor, after his supporters and the police clashed, leaving him with an injury below his right eye.

Speaking at Ntulele Market on his way to Bomet for a homecoming ceremony, Ruto blamed senior police officers for his facial injuries.

He said the junior officers acted on orders from above.

The governor had earlier accused the Jubilee Party of forcing his supporters to join them.

Governor Ruto has been a strong critic of the Jubilee administration, saying it’s against devolution.
