NASA's decision to delay coming up with diplomatic means of dealing with bungled August elections informed Isaac Ruto's decision to ditch the outfit.
Contrary to expectations of many, Ruto went mum throughout the intrigues without knowing that Raila Odinga had secretly initiated a process of launching a petition.
And later, the ex-Bomet governor formally joined Jubilee when NASA intensified calls to boycott October repeat polls.
"I was not of the idea that we intensify campaigns after the contested victory. I had advised for court process but honestly I did not see it coming.
"They only launched the petition at the eleventh hour much to my surprise. I wanted a calm nation," he said in an interview with Citizen TV.
Although he decided to support Uhuru, Ruto is yet to be given an assignment by Jubilee administration.
While in NASA, Ruto was a staunch critic of Deputy President William Ruto but the two have since reconciled.
