The Isahakia community is now accusing the County Government of Nakuru of trying to turn the 12,000 acre piece of land, which is under dispute into an airstrip.
The community is in dispute with the Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization over the real owners of the land.
Speaking to jounalists while at Naivasha, Ali Faarah, who is the chairman of the Isahakia Community said that the County Government of Nakuru together with the Kenya Airports Authority have already started the feasibility study of the land, which is in Naivasha Sub-county.
“What we are wondering most is why the feasibility study was carried out by the county government of Nakuru and the Kenya Airports Authority knowing very well that there is a case battle which is still in court,” said Faarah.
Faarah went ahead and said that even though there is a court case which is still pending, it was very wrong for the county government and also the Kenya airports authority to come to the land and carry out their study without their knowledge.
Judge Lucy Waithaka had earlier ruled in the favour of KALRO and ordered the Isahakia community to vacate the land, but the community went ahead and appealed the ruling.
Faarah further said that it seemed there were very strong and senior people within the county government who wanted them out of the land for their own benefit.
“We sometimes wonder what we have done wrong since we are sure that there are very strong people who wants us out of this land,” he noted.
