The county government of Isiolo will buy two fire engines, Governor Momamed Kuti has said.
This follows last week’s fire inferno at Isiolo main market that destroyed property worth millions of shillings when 650 business stalls were gutted down affecting 1,500 traders in the market.
He assured affected traders that his administration will help reconstruct the stalls that were destroyed.
“The county will stand in for the reconstruction of the stalls destroyed to ensure the traders resume businesses”, he said.
Kuti said the county lacks a fire engine after the one bought by the previous government was destroyed after it was involved in a road accident early this year and was damaged beyond repair.
He added that his government will improve service delivery to the people without discrimination.
