Chief Justice David Maraga on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a High Court in Isiolo town.
This is reprieve to the county residents who are currently seeking legal services in Meru or Nyeri towns.
Speaking during the launch of a Sh379 million Isiolo High Court foundation, Maraga said the Judiciary is committed to improve court infrastructure countrywide.
He said judiciary is determined to take justice close to the people.
“The share of funds we receive from the national government is not sufficient to decentralize courts in all sub counties but we will continue to lobby for more to ensure that we set up High Courts in all the 47 counties with sub counties having Magistrate courts,” CJ said as quoted by KNA.
Maraga stated that insecurity in some parts of the country was is a challenge when establishing the Courts but assured the residents in the county that the Isiolo High court will start its operations in the next 18 months.
