Isiolo County assembly members have introduced 27 motions since they took oath of office early last month.

According to the assembly speaker Hussein Halakhe, since the House was officially opened by Governor Mohamed Kuti, the MCAs have been cooperative in House business.

Halakhe said out of 27 motions, 18 are ordinary subjects on critical issues affecting locals in the county while 9 are procedural motions.

The speaker noted that the 17 MCAs are committed to conduct their oversight, legislative and representative roles effectively.

He added that plans are on to have village assemblies where MCAs will rotate and debate in all the 10 wards in the county.

Halakhe asked county governor to closely work with the assembly members when making decisions for accelerated development in the county.

"It is a good start for the members of the county it their role. What is needed now is the governor to consult the House whenever he wants to make decisions to avoid wrangles in the county leadership," he noted.
