An official of Chama Cha Mashinani has claimed that former Bomet Governor Issac Ruto has been abandoned by Jubilee days after resolving to back President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Last week, Ruto ditched NASA and declared his support for the re-election of President Uhuru.
Speaking on Sunday, CCM officials said that Ruto’s decision to back Uhuru was ill advised.
"Ruto has become too cheap to a point of being lured with Jubilee Party handouts. He has forgotten his cause of bettering Kenyan's livelihoods. Shame," one of the officials stated as quoted by a local daily.
Political activist Alvin Koech, a close ally of Ruto, said that the former governor did not consult the party members before making the move.
"Jubilee does not subscribe to NASA or CCM ideology of pushing for 45 per cent of funds to be sent to the counties. Following this, it was foolhardy for Ruto to make a hasty decision of supporting Jubilee. He did so for his selfish interests," Koech stated.
Koech further noted that the Party Leader's decision would not deter CCM followers in Bomet from voting for Mr Odinga in next month's election as he not moved with the entire party.
During his defection, governor Ruto stated that he felt lonely while in the opposition and hence resolved to returning back to Jubilee.
