The former IEBC chairman Mr Issack Hassan has spoken for the first time regarding the state the commission is in since he left the Anniversary towers office.

Hassan stated in his 15-page review that the current commission under Mr Wafula Chebukati should strive to ensure that they prepare a team of unbiased defense lawyers once NASA files a petition with the Supreme Court.

"As a rule, the EMB and its head should use the same lawyer in defending them and the head of the EMB should closely monitor the work of the lawyer," Hassan said.

"The defense counsel must be aware of the importance of maintaining the impartiality of the EMB and its head," he added.

Hassan also reiterated that it was important that Chebukati's  team gets a good backing from the civil society groups and domestic elections observers which will help IEBC get the room for tabling parallel vote tabulation, especially for the presidential poll.

"This is especially in close elections where the margin of error is equal to the margin of victory. Their report can support your election results," said Hassan.
