Speaking to journalists immediately after the issuance programme graced by the county director of education kisii, his district education counterpart and five principals, Samwel Omwando, a leader from the area said the buses were brought without consulting academic stakeholders from the area.

“I can tell you for sure that we residents cannot prioritise buses to laboratories and infrastructure that is missing in all of these schools which are said to benefit,” said Omwando, who further questioned how the price of the new buses came to Sh6.5million and were paid at once.

“I understand that each of the five buses was said to cost Sh6.5million, and which according to the CDF  chairman James Maobe confirmed that all the money has been paid, does that mean we are not going to do any development projects other than buses this financial year?” posed Omwando.

The CDF chairman had earlier confirmed that the five buses were bought to create confidence in students in their class work and co-curriculum activities, as they are paid off as well as insurance guaranteed.

He thanked the area MP Richard Onyonka for assisting boost education in all means.

However, the chairman’s sentiments never went well with constituents, who had issues with the purchase of the buses, which some of them are said to have been mounted with speed governors and inspected on November 28 last year.

On his part, Omwando accused the CDF Kitutu Chache south constituency for meddling with the electorates’ money without consulting them,

“The said buses are so old to carry our children and thus parents should be wary of some political tricks that are behind this whole programme,” said the former Mayor of the defunct Kisii municipal council.

The schools which received the buses are, Getembe, St Patric mosocho, Ong’icha, St Catherine iranda and Nyatieko Secondary schools.
