Ali Korane, Garissa governor, unveiled his team to the public this week of men and women who will help him deliver on his agenda for residents.

Corruption has been a big issue that has made it difficult for the county to move forward and realise development.

''My hope is that the team will make use of our money transparently. We don't want to see the wastage that we saw in the previous administration. My hope is that our new governor will follow through on his promise to ensure transparency. What we want is development,'' Mohammed Hassan, a resident says.

Garissa County is currently burdened with a huge debt that the new administration says it will audit before deciding what course of action to take.

Reducing the debt will be a key challenge.

Water shortage is a big issue with residents having to trek for long distances in search of the commodity.

The administration also faces the issue of infrastructure in a deplorable state.

Bad roads, poor communication is hurting the county and there is need to attract funds for infrastructural improvement.

Insecurity, doubtless, ranks at the top of issues that the county grapples with.

Cases of terrorism have become all too often.

''There can be no development without security.  The county government should work with the national government on this area,'' Galgalo Kunow says.
