Two Ukambani leaders have come in the defence of under fire Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze for demanding that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka be named NASA flag bearer.
The two leaders, coordinator of Mwingi Region Professionals, Campbell Munyambu, and Athi River MCA Peter Kilonzo said it was unfair for a section of NASA leaders to criticise Nyenze over his remarks, affirming that the Kamba community is in support of Kalonzo's presidential bid ahead of the August polls.
“No one is justified to criticise Hon Nyenze for making public the stand of the people of Ukambani. It is true that we are waiting for Musyoka to be named the NASA flagbearer, not Raila Odinga,” the Star quoted Munyambu on Sunday.
“The truth must be told that if Kalonzo is not made the flagbearer, there will be no NASA,” he added.
The leaders challenged ODM Party leader Raila Odinga to back Kalonzo's bid, noting that the former premier can only be a kingmaker.
The Opposition outifit is yet to unveil its presidential candidate just four months to the general elections, with the subject threatening the unity of the alliance.
The NASA ticket has attracted the interest of political heavyweights including: Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).
