Raila and Uhuru share a light moment.(photo/ citizentv)
Few nations have persistently enjoyed God's favor in the entire world like our beautiful motherland, Kenya. Even when we sink so low to the point of a precipice as a nation, God has been merciful enough to re-energize the great Kenyan spirit of resilience in adversity.
Yet at times I feel that as a nation we have taken this favor from God for granted for too long. We have even began to tempt fate by beating the drums of war time and again.
The political climate in our country is too hostile at the moment. There is simmering hatred being slowly sowed in the hearts of the common people day-in-day-out.
Yet I feel the time to stop the meaningless chest thumping and political bravado is now. We should be able to allow the voices of reason to prevail.
The senseless killings should stop now. We cannot keep watching as innocent lives are being placed on the altars of a meaningless struggle. We cannot remain silent as our brothers in uniform equally use brute force to force sardines into our throats.
It is time we collectively asked our political elite to stop using dead citizenens as their stepping stones to success. Luo lives matter. Kalenjin Lives matter. Kamba blood is equally dear.
That we wantonly use the poor masses as our ladders to self-preservation is indeed sickening.
Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta are privileged citizens of this country whose palm-kernels were cracked for them by their benevolent spirits. They should thank their gods for placing juicy morsels in their mouths.
Yet as they do so, they should not forget those whose gods are away on a journey and cannot even afford a few kola nuts to be used in appeasing the spirits.
It is the right time to call for a serious dialogue as a nation. We should not ruin this great nation that God gave us and told us to multiply in.
As a nation, we should stistick to the ideals of our national anthem. Let God be our shield and defender always.
