President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to be unveiled as president-elect following August 8th elections despite oppositions’ demand that Raila Odinga is declared winner.
Several observer groups lauded Kenya’s elections as ‘free and fair’ despite dissatisfaction by the opposition team which has accused Jubilee of hacking IEBC servers to rig.
On Friday morning, security forces attached to the presidential guard were seen maneuvering in Bomas, which is being used as National Tallying center by IEBC.
Winners of various parliamentary seats on Jubilee ticket have also arrived in the Bomas to witness the major announcement to be made by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
On Thursday, Chebukati said that the commission will announce the winner of the recently concluded election by Friday noon.
During the hotly contested polls, Uhuru managed to score at least 54 percent of votes to Odinga’s 44 percent according to results being relayed on IEBC portal.
Although the opposition is yet to make clear on its next step, chances are that they will contest the results in the Supreme Court even after ruling out such moves.
