Barely 11 months to the August 2017 poll, Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential bid is receiving resistance from his own Ukambani backyard with a member of his Wiper Party dismissing his candidature on account that he (Kalonzo) cannot win the seat even if he was backed by the Kamba community.

Mwingi Central legislator Joe Mutambu says that the former Vice President will terribly fail even if the Kambas rallied behind him.

According to Mutambu, the region should not lag behind in terms of development just because they want to support 'their own son'.

He instead challenged them to 'move away from party politics which bring nothing except enmity'.

Speaking to a gathering at Nuu Primary School on Tuesday, the lawmaker said that Kalonzo would lose the 2017 presidential poll should he vie.

"He vied twice and failed. Time has come that we should stop voting in vain," he said.

"Kamba people have been misled for over 20 years to keep on voting for our son Kalonzo and they keep on voting for him yet no development has been realised. We should vote wisely now," he added.
