Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and National Assembly deputy speaker Moses Cheboi have called for an audit of employees of the company constructing Itare dam.
Speaking at Chepkoburot center, Kuresoi North sub-county after touring and holding a meeting with the company's' management, Governor Kinyanjui and MP Cheboi praised the locals for supporting the project but regretted that only 48 out 700 skilled and unskilled workers are drawn from the area.
The leaders said the employment situation was unacceptable.
Governor Kinyanjui said on completion, Molo, Rongai, and Nakuru will benefit from the dam.
Cheboi accused the company of discriminating locals on employment despite the support they have given to the company.
