The much talked about Itare dam which President Kenyatta has promised to launch soon in Nakuru County will attract investors after solving the water shortage facing the county.
That is according to Henry Cheruiyot, the project manager at the Rift Valley Water Services board. Cheruiyot has praised the project saying many investors had closed shop in the county due to water shortage.
Investors, he said, will now come back.
“Nakuru residents and investors have been suffering since they have been getting only half of their daily demand of 65,000 cubic metres. We are optimistic that an increased supply of clean water would attract investors,” Cheruiyot said.
Speaking on Friday, Cheruiyot said the dam, which will be set up at Ndoinet, is the solution to water shortages in Molo, Elburgon, Rongai and Nakuru.
“Three tanks with a capacity of 5,000 cubic metres will be constructed at Kirobon, Ngata and the water will be used by 800,000 people in Rongai, Molo, among other areas,” he said.
