The Principal Secretary – State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Ministry of Information Communication and Technology Mr. Sammy Shihemi Itemere is now the patron of Kenya Premier League (KPL) new boys Wazito FC.
Wazito FC will make KPL debut in February this year, after promotion from the second tier National Super League (NSL) last season. The team finished second behind NSL champions Vihiga United.
“Mr. Sammy Shihemi Itemere has accepted to serve as the Wazito FC Patron. He is currently the Principal Secretary – State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Ministry of Information Communication and Technology,” announced a post on the club’s face book page.
The post says that the new patron is an avid golfer, immediate past Chairman of Royal Nairobi Golf Club, and is a member of Muthaiga Golf Club.
He is a gym enthusiast and has served as a member on several boards among them Global Hope and Cheryls Children Home.
The principal secretary is expected to bring to Wazito FC high energy, passion, drive, commitment to excellence and - above all - trust in God.
“As we start the New Year Wazito Football Club makes a debut in the KPL. I am proud to take up a significant role in the team,” said the principal secretary.
