Residents of Ithingu, Mumbuni North ward in Machakos County will have four more boreholes in the town soon.
This is after Machakos deputy Governor Francis Maliti allocated 4 million shillings for creation of the boreholes with an aim of ending the problem of water scarcity that has hit the place over five years ago.
Maliti who was in an inspection mission of three boreholes that were initiated by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua said that this is one of the agenda that the County government of Machakos seeks to complete aimed at providing clean water for both domestic and livestock use.
''I am happy that the solar powered pumps are operational and residents are able to draw water at no cost and from water points that are proximate to their homes. That is the desire of this government; to bring social services closer to the people in order to improve the standards of living of Machakos people,'' said Maliti.
Maliti further asked the residents to be patient and urged them to embrace irrigation immediately the boreholes are dug in order to improve their agricultural means for a bigger and better produce that leads to prosperity among farmers.
He reiterated that other major projects will be unveiled in the area as he seeks to promote development among the residents in terms of education, health and security.
