Thika town has this week experienced long queues in the different shopping centres and banks as form one admission commenced in all schools in the area.
The incidence has caused unusual congestion in the entrance to Thika Town forcing traffic police to closely monitor vehicles entering and exiting the town to ensure they keep the traffic flowing.
Owners of different shopping premises both the consumer goods, edibles and hardware shops have reaped heavily as the new students are flocking their premises in need of the items.
David Macharia, a Jua Kali worker expressed his joy saying the metal boxes he makes are moving fast since the last week of January as the parents are fighting to purchase them for their children’s admission.
Macharia said that he has been forced to open his job as early as 6am as the clients flock his premises early enough to avoid being delayed in the long queues experienced as he is the main retailer of the boxes at Thika town.
He added that he is expecting business to be at its climax in the next two weeks. He has had to increase the number of shop attendants due to the increased clientele.
