The Deputy Governor of Machakos county Bernard Kiala has condemned his boss Governor Dr Alfred Mutua for putting up boards bearing his photo on projects sites.
Speaking on Sunday during a fundraising ceremony in Yathui, Kiala accused the governor of personalising County Development Funded projects.
"Instead of getting water for the residents we are seeing a series of boards with the picture of the governor. Even in hospitals where there is shortage of medicines there are numerous pictures of governor Mutua," said Kiala.
Kiala further stated that the County Assembly of Machakos had passed laws that illegalized personalisation of public funded projects.
"The County Assembly made it clear that projects by the government are funded by the people, therefore, it is impunity to personalise projects," said Kiala.
The deputy governor criticized Dr Alfred Mutua asking him to follow the example of president Uhuru Kenyatta and the rest of the leaders.
"There is no time we have seen the president personalise National projects so as to increase his popularity," he added.
The governor of Machakos county has previously received great opposition from his deputy.
This is mainly after he neglected the Wiper Democratic Movement and formed the Maendeleo Chap Chap movement.
In attendant was also the CCU party leader Wavinya Ndeti who called upon unity and respect among political leaders.
