Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong'o has declared that the embattled IEBC commissioners should leave office immediately to pave way for the commission's reconstitution ahead of the 2017 elections.
'The issue of IEBC must be addressed immediately before we even start thinking of the 2017 elections. I believe that this is the time that the issue regarding this commission should be solved once and for all', said Prof Nyong'o on Morning morning during a talk-show on a local TV.
The veteran politician added that the Opposition is going to do all it can to ensure the commissioners leave office before the end of their tenure as the only way to avoid a repeat of transpired in 2007-08 events.
He further appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to be ready to listen to what Cord co-principal Raila Odinga has.
Prof Nyong'o wondered why the President is not ready to dialogue with the opposition when the former president Mwai Kibaki saw the need of dialogue as a way to address the perennial problems that face the country.
'I wonder why these two boys do not see the need for dialogue when president Kibaki despite his advanced age, thinks that dialogue is the right way to deal with these problems', added the Kisumu Senator.
