Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has urged winners and losers in the recently concluded elections to bury their political differences and forge ahead with the country’s development.

Jirongo, who vied for the country's top seat in August polls but lost to Jubilee's president Uhuru Kenyatta said he conceded defeat despite the pain.

“I was one of the contestants in the elections for the country's top seat, presidency. I lost and I have conceded defeat despite the pain of losing,” he said.

He said the time for politics is over and the elected leaders should work to unite the country for development.

He expressed confidence that the presidential petition before the Supreme court challenging his rival's re-election, its outcome will come peacefully.

"Once the verdict over the presidential petition is made, let us accept it and shun divisive politics,” he said.
