Top primary schools in Kisumu County are celebrating their good performance in this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam results.
MM Shah Primary School posted the best results as teachers, students and parents took to the streets in song and dance to celebrate the school’s performance.
The school produced two fifth best students nationally.
Ulser Achieng (14) and Liza Atieno Awino (15) scored 433 marks out of 500 marks while Kelsy Adhiambo (14) scored 425 marks.
They attributed the good results to hard-work from teachers, parents and them. Achieng said she had hoped to get more than 400 marks, but what she got was good enough.
Achieng said she hopes to be a genetic engineer. Awino hope to be a lawyer while Adhiambo want to become a neurosurgeon.
Adhiambo attributed her good performance to discipline, hard work and prayers.
She praised her parents “for supporting me" and her teachers for the "constant encouragement in studies”.
The head teacher Marcellus Okweya said more than 20 students scored more than 400 marks out of 500.
Okweya said 127 candidates sat KCPE in 2015 compared to 102 in 2014.
He said last year, the school took 47 students to national schools out of 102 candidates.
Okweya attributed the school's success to team work from teachers, parents and school management board, discipline and hard work by the students.
He especially praised the teachers and parents and they helped in the success of the school.
The school's chairman Dr Peter Sewe praised the headteacher and his team of teachers for posting good results.
Dr Sewe said the sub-committee on quality assurance and standards greatly helped in producing good results.
He said the school had set the standards and should uphold the good results in this year's KCPE exams.
Arina Primary School also posted good results after they produced more than three students with over 400 marks out of 500.
Erick Odhiambo and Ochieng Achieng scored 426 and 421 marks respectively.
Mishal Ochieng got 416 marks.
They attributed their success to hard-work and support from teachers and parents. The school headteacher Mary Onyango attributed the school's success to team work.
At Golden Elite School, Mary Atieno Orongo of scored 425 marks.
