The darkest time this country has ever experienced is during the 2007 and early 2008 after the 2007 general elections.

The main reason cited was that elections had been rigged and the opposition at that time led by Raila Odinga held their ground on disputing the elections.

What transpired was that leaders from both the political parties at that time, Orange Democtaric Movement (ODM) and Party of National Unity (PNU), made their supporters turn against each other leading to a national crisis.

People were killed, raped, burnt and displaced from their homes and their property looted reason being they are from particular tribes.

The fight against IEBC being undertaken right now by Cord and Kanu is an indicator of what may happen after 2017 general elections.

The lack of trust to the electoral body is what will lead to mistrust among citizens allied to different political parties and possibly war against each other.

Post-election violence (PEV) victims have given a seven-day ultimatum for the protests to be stopped and have indicated that they will camp at Cord leaders, Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka's homes until the protests are stopped.

They believe the protests will habour enemity, mistrust and hatred that may lead to violence as was seen in 2007/2008.

Addressing the press in Naivasha recently, the coordinator of the victims, Esther Namulanda said that it is the same strategy being used by Cord now that was used in 2007 by ODM leading to chaos.

If Cord leaders are sensitive enough, they should listen to these people who faced inhumanity in 2007 and 2008.

The protests should be stopped and other means used to solve the IEBC issue.
