Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called on the county assembly to ensure no wastage of public resources.
In his address during the opening of the house on Thursday, the governor noted that Nakuru County can only succeed if the collective responsibility of fighting corruption in all sectors succeeds.
He vowed to work closely with the county assembly in ensuring quality service delivery to the people of Nakuru.
“Our plans will succeed if we tame wastage of public resources. I would also wish to remind the members that the tenure might seem long but it is only 5 years and therefore you have to serve the people. Let us not postpone what can be done today to later date,” he said.
Kinyajui told MCAs to
ensure that the mistakes made by the first assembly in devolved system are addressed for the betterment of the people of Nakuru.
“Unlike the first house in devolution, this house is now the second and therefore should address the challenges that were faced in the first assembly in devolved system,” he said.
Opening of the assembly by the governor is like a state of the county address done annually, the governor highlights his agenda for the county for a period of five years.
