Addressing the locals, Wetangula appealed to the Kuria community to consider him for presidency ahead of 2017, saying they were working on ways to strike a deal on who was to become the coalition's flagbearer.

He however reiterated that he stood a better chance for presidency, reminding the residents of having supported Odinga twice in the presidential race in the previous elections and so it was Raila's turn to reciprocate by supporting his candidature in the coming general elections.

"I hereby plead with my brother Raila that he also returns the good gesture now that we have helped him push this wheel a number of times," said the Bungoma senator.

Wetangula also pointed out that there was nothing that would save the coalition apart from unity and said that that it was only through unity that they would be able to dislodge Jubilee from power in 2017.

"We as Cord leaders Raila, Kalonzo and myself, we must hold our hands together in this race if we have to win. If you may ask anyone of us, you will hear each one of us saying: 'It's me'. But what is important is that we must stay put for it doesn't matter who becomes the president amongst the three of us. However, if Weta becomes the president, it would be even better," the Ford-K party leader said.

He was accompanied with Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo who appealed to the Cord principals to agree in good time on whom to be the flag-bearer before the elections near.
