Itumbe location Chief Henry Mirera has warned area residents who benefited from government's free anti-malaria mosquito nets against using the nets to fence their gardens.
Chief Mirera said the nets should strictly be used to protect themselves and their families against malaria-causing mosquitoes during this rainy season.
He warned of dire consequences should anybody be found misusing the nets.
Speaking on Sunday in his office after the commencement of distribution of the free nets in Itumbe, Mirera expressed concerns that despite the government's positive gesture in assisting its citizens to curb cases of malaria across the country, some people were abusing the efforts by using nets to fence their gardens.
"I am warning residents from this location that the government will not spare anybody found using the free anti-malaria nets to fence their gardens. That is not the purpose of the nets," he warned.
He further warned that those found misusing the nets will be blacklisted and will not be given the free nets in future.
