Speaking in a TV interview on Wednesday, the DP said he is able to account for every shilling he has spent and that those claiming he is corrupt were lying.

Ruto added that he has always worked very hard to reach where he is and asked Cord leader Raila Odinga to stop propagating false information that he is corrupt.

"I want to tell Raila that I am not what he wants people to believe I am. I work very hard and if I was corrupt, I would be in jail now," Ruto said in an interview on K24 TV.

According to the DP,  those who have issues should challenge him in court.

The DP further added that those tarnishing his name have realized that they cannot compete him politically hence have resorted to a smear campaign to assassinate his character.

Ruto said those who accuse him "spend most of their times drinking and wake up with the hangover of 'nusu mkate' arrangement."

He also lauded the effort that the government has put to fight corruption.
