Kitui senator David Musila has rubbished claims that he might consider ditching Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party if he is denied chance to contest for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the August 8 polls.
Musila says that speculations going round that he might consider joining JP to guarantee his candidature for the Kitui governor seat are false. The Wiper chairman has further told off politicians asking to ditch Wiper saying that he cannot abandon Wiper.“Speculations going round that I am considering quitting Wiper are false, I am in Wiper to stay and this where I will fight for my rights,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.Musila on Wednesday said that he will fight for his rights while in Wiper party and not anywhere else. The Kitui senator who is eyeing to unseat Governor Julius Malombe said that Kitui locals want him to contest for the seat in the August general election.Musila who has been endorsed by a section of Kitui politicians and professionals to unseat governor Malombe has accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of allegedly favoring governor Malombe’s re-election bid.According to Musila, Kalonzo is campaigning for Malombe’s re-election in the August 8 polls.Kalonzo has however refuted the claims saying that candidates seeking elective seats will be endorsed through nominations.Last week a section of Wiper party rebels led by Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu asked Musila to ditch Wiper.Mutambu claimed that Kalonzo has already endorsed Malombe’s re-election and that Musila will have to ditch Wiper if he wants to be on the ballot in the August 8 polls.
