Garissa Township Parliamentary seat hopeful Nassir Dolal has refuted claims of 'chickening' out of the race ahead of the August 8 polls.
The ODM aspirant says that rumors being peddled in some sections of the media that he has quit the race are false.
In an interview with a local daily, the ODM aspirant said that he is firmly in the race to unseat National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.
“I have not quit the Garissa parliamentary race as being rumored in some media outlets,” he said as quoted by the star.
Dolal said that rumors of him quitting and endorsing former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim are meant to tarnish his bid, adding that he is in the race to stay.
Dolal accused rivals of sponsoring malicious propaganda to block him from contesting the seat. There have been speculations that the ODM Party has asked Dolal to quit in favour of Maalim.
The aspirant alongside Maalim are seeking to send Duale packing in the August 8 polls.
