Addressing supporters in Machakos Town on Sunday, Kiala said that he is still in the race to oust Governor Alfred Mutua.

The deputy governor stated that he is doing his campaigns in the grass root, adding that rivals in the race should brace up for a bruising battle.

“I want to tell my supporters that I am still in the race and I am not to quit as being speculated in some sections of the media,” he said as quoted by Standard.

Kiala, who is seeking the Machakos top seat as an independent candidate said that he has an agenda for the locals.

Kiala stated that he understands the issues facing locals having worked as deputy governor.

The Machakos Deputy Governor asked rivals not to under-rate his bid promising to give them a run for their money.

Kiala, who was accompanied by Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama urged residents to come out in numbers and back his bid. 

The Deputy Governor promised to mend the mistakes done by the incumbent Alfred Mutua if elected.

He also promised to spearhead the interests of residents without discrimination. Kiala lost the Wiper party ticket to former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti in the nomination.

Political analysts say that the quest for the Machakos top seat is a two horse race between Mutua and Ndeti.

Lemmy Muia, a former Machakos county government employee is also in the race contesting on Jubilee party ticket.
