Roba says that his differences with clan elders does no amount to disrespect as being claimed by some politicians in the county.

Governor Roba says  that he has nothing personal with elders and only differs with them on their stand  on issues related to political and socio economic  activities of the county.

Speaking to journalists after being sworn in on Thursday at Moi stadium in Mandera , Roba said that he respscets the role elders play but urged them to be obejctive and non-impartial in their roles.

Governor Roba said that some elders are led by malice motive saying their cling on negotiated democrasy has been past by time.

"I have nothing personal against elders but they should drop oudated practices like the negotiated democdemocrasy which is no longer relevant at the age and time," he said as quoted by the Standard.

Roba said that despite his differences with some elders, he is ready to work with them in order to push development agenda forward.

Governor Roba has been differing with clan elders after they refused to endorse his re-election on negotiated democrasy grounds.

 Roba went on to contest re-election without the elders blessings and won on Jubilee party ticket.

The Jubilee governor defeated his closet rival Hassan Noor of Economic Freedom Party (EFP) in the recently concluded general election.
