[Photo: mediamaxnetwork.co.ke]Kiambu Senatorial hopeful Karungo Wa Thang’wa has vowed to send incumbent Kimani Wamatangi packing in the August 8 polls.Karungo says that he has the numbers to trounce Wamatangi in the senatorial race.Addressing supporters in Kabete Town on Sunday, the Ngewa MCA asked Wamatangi to prepare for a resounding defeat, claiming that he has not done enough representing Kiambu people in the Senate.“Apart from auditing governors in the Senate committee, Senator Wamatangi has not done anything else to empower Kiambu people,” he claimed as quoted by the Star.Thang’wa said that if elected senator he will formulate Bills and policies that will empower Kiambu people and Kenyans at large.He said that Wamatangi has failed to cushion Kiambu business people from alleged high taxes and levies’ being imposed by the county government.Thang’wa claims that doing business in Kiambu has been made difficult by alleged exorbitant taxes and levies.The senator hopeful also claimed that unemployment remains high in the county. He pledged to push for laws that will create jobs for unemployed youth.He criticised the Kiambu County Biashara Fund alleging that loans are not disbursed fairly.Thang’wa urged locals to endorse his bid pledging to be their voice in the senate. The Ngewa MCA lost the Jubilee ticket to Wamatangi in the nomination.He will be battling for the seat as an independent candidate.Early this month, Kiambu governor hopeful Ferdinand Waititu asked Thang’wa to drop his senatorial bid and support Wamatangi.Waititu said that will not campaign for any independent candidate.The senator hopeful was offered a job if he drops his bid but declined saying that his quest for the senator seat cannot be compromised.
