Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has said they will not allow rigging to take place during ODM primaries in Siaya County.
The lawmaker expressed fears that the alleged rigging witnessed in Busia could be replicated in his county.
He claimed that the county elections board officials were allied to some aspirants allied to Governor Cornel Rasanga.
“I am asking party officials and the elections board to allow democracy in the nominations to curb any fallout that might lead to voter apathy in ODM strongholds,” Midiwo said on Friday, as reported by The Star.
Governor Rasanga is facing stiff competition from a host of top ODM leaders in the race for the ODM ticket.
They are: Senator James Orengo, businessman William Oduol, former PS Carey Orege and Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.
Midiwo said skewed results will not be allowed in Siaya.
In Busia, the nomination results that declared Governor Sospeter Ojaamong the winner against Funyula MP Paul Otuoma were nullified by the National Elections Board.
The NEB cited massive irregularities in the gubernatorial nominations.
