Speaking in Saka Girls Secondary School, Jama pointed an accusing finger at Wilson Sossion saying his method of handling the teachers’ deficit especially in Garissa County was unwarranted.

As he was presenting a bus to the institution, Jama said Sossion would perform better if he joined politics instead of leading the teachers union. The governor also said Sossions’ reckless utterances had impacted negatively on the performance of education in the county where a total of 8 non local teachers out of 12 teaching staff left the institution which is a staffing crisis.

Jama said if the sectretary general would not ensure the crisis of teachers is handled in the North Eastern region, he would match to his offices to demand for something to be done.

A total of 200 non local teachers fled the region in May last year after the Garisssa University terror attack which left 148 people, mostly students, dead.

Jama further said he supports the changes that have been proposed by the Ministry of Education aimed at improving quality and integrity of the national examinations.
