Nathif Jama of Garissa and Godana Doyo from Isiolo have been selected as the lead mediators in the peace meeting.

This comes after fighting broke out in Tana, Makadakal, Barambati, and Belgish localities, heightening tension and animosity, a fact that has since displaced hundreds of families.

On Friday and Saturday last week, five people were brutally murdered with several livestock being stolen and property destroyed.

However, Lagdera legislator Mohamed Shidiye whose constituency suffered the most, revealed that the names of the brutal aggressors from both warring sides have already been forwarded to security officers but no action has since been taken.

On Thursday, a delegation led by Abdullahi Omar Mashid distributed foodstuffs including sugar, rice, drinking water, maize flour and cooking oil to the displaced persons at Banane.

He issued that the county governments had put in place strategies with the Kenya Red Cross to assist the displaced families.

Omar further said the area is expected to witness an upsurge in the number of locally displaced people.

Hud Rashid, the Lagdera administrator praised the Garbatula security teams for responding swiftly to prevent retaliatory attacks.
