On a post on his Facebook account clarified that those were not sentiments held by leaders in the county, but only an individual's thoughts.

"As the Governor of Garissa, I want to apologize to the country and more so to the Kamba Community over the remarks by the majority leader, those sentiments do not represent the peace-loving people of Garissa," read the post.

He further added that Garissa County is for all the communities living in Kenya, and does not specifically belong to one group of people.

"Garissa is a cosmopolitan town that accommodates every community," added the Governor.
