Speaking in Garissa town on Sunday, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama said that unless the county leaders, together with all the national leaders work together, residents of Garissa County will not benefit from devolution at all.

“It is not good seeing the elected leaders always criticising each other instead of giving support and assisting each other in ensuring that the residents get the much needed developments,” said Jama.

Jama called upon MP Bare Shill, Abdi Noor, Abdikadir Omar, Ahmed Abass, and Aden Duale to give him moral support, so that Garissa County can achieve its development agendas.

“We as county leaders together with the available funds are trying our very best to ensure that we tackle all the problems facing this county, which include lack of water and also drugs in our hospitals,” said the Governor.

“I urge the National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to use his position and also his colleagues who come from this county to ensure that they fight in the National assembly and bring development in this county instead of talking negative things about this county and my leadership,” he added.

Jama, who was speaking as he unveiled the 25 members of the County Council of Elders forum, said that the members had all been drawn from all the communities in the county.

“Their main work is to advise the executive on all the needs and the priorities of the residents of the communities they represent,” he noted.

Jama went on to ask all his critics to give him ample time to deliver on all his promises.

“I urge my critics and also enemies to give me time so that I can deliver, and whenever possible, I am open to their advice. They should also be on the forefront in ensuring that they support me so that we can bring development in this county,” he concluded.
