Garissa gubernatorial aspirant Ali Korane has launched a scathing attack on incumbent incumbent Nathif Jama, accusing him of doing little to solve the problem of water shortages in the area since he ascended to power following the last general elections.
The aspirant, who went around Garissa town with his supporters carrying empty jerricans, took a swipe at the county boss for failing to keep his pre-election pledges yet he wants another term in office.
The aspirant said that mothers and children in the county have been forced to trek for miles in the name of looking for water yet the county government is doing nothing over the matter.
“This administration has failed to provide even the simplest of services to the people like provision of water. Our mothers and children are trekking long distances in this day and age in search of water.
The situation is replicated in other major towns within the county,” Korane said. Jama, however, rubbished Korane claims terming them as baseless.
According to the governor, Korane is misleading residents of this area by claiming there is no water.
“That trick you are using will not take you anywhere. You cannot go round the town carrying empty jerricans and claiming that there is no water when you very well know that it's you who hired some individuals to block the same” he said.
The county boss reminded his opponents not to take advantage of people’s problems to rise to power. “Let us not play with people's lives. You will not get votes by applying such unorthodox means,” said Jama at his office.
