Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has said he will construct a fully fledged Early Childhood Development (ECD) college if he is re-elected come the August 8 polls.
The governor said that his administration is motivated to build a strong foundation for their children by investing and ensuring ECD teachers get quality education.
Jama who was speaking at Garissa farmers training centre where he presided over the graduation of over 300 Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers from Garissa DICECE center urged those who graduated to improve the education standards of the county.
The governor said those who will graduate from the ECD centres will be employed as teachers in the county.
“My administration will continue to prioritize education to improve education standards. I want to assure the youth who had completed training in various teaching courses that the county government will support them by giving bursaries and offering employment opportunities,” he said.
Governor Jama also assured non-residents working in the education sector that the government has increased security in the region.
“The government has up-scaled security in the Northern region particularly along the borders to ensure the teachers are safe and protected. I urge the non-locals to come work in the county,” said the governor.
The terrorist attacks in North Eastern led to the non-local teachers demanding transfers from the region citing insecurity as their main concern adding that the region was unfit for them and their families and they were transferred by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
