Garissa County boss Nathif Jama has called on non-locals to rally behind him in his 2017 re-election bid, promising that he would return the favour by giving them key appointments in his second term in county leadership.
Speaking in Garissa on Sunday, the governor urged non-residents to support him based on his clean track record.
Jama, however, said his administration has evidently performed well in terms of establishing development projects, despite the many problems that he has occasionally been facing.
The governor further indicated that the county was cosmopolitan, noting that such counties require a leader who can unite all the communities to foster lasting peace.
"Garissa is a cosmopolitan town. We have all the 42 tribes represented here and so we need a leader who can unite us all for a common cause," he stated.
The county boss did not cease from blasting out his rivals, saying they were behind his numerous court battles.
