Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has told his political opponents to prepare for defeat after the August election.
Jama said some of his political challengers worked in respectable positions in previous governments and have nothing to show on the ground.
He is expected to face off with former Permanent Secretary Ali Korane (Jubilee Party) for the seat of governor on August 8.
“Actions speak louder than words. I am to better the lives of my people. If we coexist peacefully and put our efforts together, the rewards are enormous. My work is seen and I am headed for victory,” Jama said on Sunday.
He has openly criticized Korane over the former PS’s alleged failure to help Garissa residents when he was Permanent Secretary.
“We know some of them and the positions they held while in government. There is nothing to be admired or to be said about them, only controversies. Voters are wiser based on the primaries, where the seasoned politicians were voted out. We shall witness a similar scenario on August 8,” he said.
Jama will be defending his seat on Wiper party ticket after being handed direct nomination by the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party.
He remains the National Super Alliance’s (NASA) point man in North Eastern region and together with Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, he will play a primary role in ensuring NASA bags majority of the votes and elective seats in the volatile region.
