Jama claims that Duale is out to discredit his Garissa County government ahead of the August 8 general elections.

According to Jama, the Garissa Town MP has been allegedly feeding locals with false information in regard to the projects his government is initiating across the county.

The Governor said that Duale’s claims that his government has misappropriated public funds are false, adding that the MP is engaging him in a political witch-hunt.

“Duale should stop criticizing and inciting locals against my government because if he was he himself can never be a good governor,” Jama said as quoted by the Star.

The Garissa governor refuted Duale’s claims that he used Sh5 million to hire a chopper to distribute relief food to locals in Ijara Sub County on Saturday.

The Governor claimed that Duale is ‘cooking’ up malicious information to tarnish his administration.

“It is malicious for the MP to go on telling locals that I used Sh5 Million to hire a chopper for relief food distribution, that is not true and he knows it,” Jama added.

The Governor said his government has been accountable in use of national resources.

Jama added that it’s only the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) that can question his government on accountability matters and not Duale.

On Sunday, Duale accused Jama of allegedly hiring a chopper to distribute relief food at a cost of Sh5 million.

Duale said that the money used to hire the chopper could have been used to buy more relief food.

The Garissa MP, a critic of Jama has been urging locals to vote out the governor in the August polls.

Duale claims that Jama’s government has done nothing for locals in the last four years.

Jama is seeking re-election as governor in the August 8 election. He however faces stiff competition from Ali Bunow Korane who is being fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
