Jama said his development record was clear and hence merited a second term to complete projects he initiated.
He said the county integrated development plan he introduced after assuming leadership in 2013 has guided his leadership and guaranteed many achievements. The plan identified short and long-term development needs of the county residents.
He said hospitals in the devolved unit have been modernized after he financed the plan to improve healthcare service delivery.
“We have employed more than 700 health specialists to ensure smooth and uninterrupted services in all healthcare facilities,” Jama said at Garissa Primary grounds.
He cited as achievements the successful caesarean sections in Balambala and Modogashe sub counties in 2016 adding his administration had also built and equipped 130 ECDE centres to improve early childhood learning.
“Our holistic approach to development has enabled us deal with many other critical issues. We should advocate for peace and unity and vigorously oppose notions that some sections of the population are corner tribes. This is outright discrimination.”
Jama is running against former permanent secretary Ali Korane who he describes as a failure having worked as a senior government official in a previous regime but failed to help the people of Garissa.
