Few days ago, Governor Nathif Jama announced that he will defend his gubernatorial position through a Jubilee Party ticket come 2017.
His decision has caused lots of jitters in Garissa county, with a number of the electorates saying the decision is the beginning of the end for his political career.
It is no doubt that Jubilee Party has a massive following in the county, owing to the high ranking position that Duale holds in the Uhuru-led government.
Nathif Jama might have analysed his situation well but according to political analyst Ken Kimani, Jama's politics may reach a dead end during the party primaries.
Ali Korane, one of the gubernatorial aspirants in the county is already warming up for the post after being crowned by the dominant Abduwalak clan.
During the crowning ceremony, the clan's Sultan Dhakow issued that the community had picked him to oust Jama who is seemingly losing grip in the regional politics.
Although Korane has never officially revealed the party he is going to use, there is widespread speculation that he will use Jubilee party hence confronting the current governor during the party primaries.
