The politician filed a case against current Governor Ali Korane, whom he claims won unfairly.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) indicates that the former governor was defeated by around 4,000 votes but he has dismissed the outcome of the poll terming it  pure fraud and scheme to subvert the will of the people of Garissa.

This is after he garnered 55,156 votes against Korane's 59,871. The politician has exuded confidence that he will win the petition after the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win against Former Prime Minister and NASA presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga.

"We are done with filing the case and the clock has started ticking. Soon, we will win back our seat. We are confident we will win this case and the subsequent by-election,” said Jama, as quoted by Star.  He also called upon his supporters to remain calm ahead of the hearing of his petition.

“I want to urge the residents of Garissa to be patient. We won the election but what took place was a fraud and diversion of the will of the people in the most dubious manner,” he added.
